Two men have been bailed pending police inquiries after a 19-year-old was shot in Herne Bay.

The men, both from Herne Bay and aged 28 and 29, were arrested on Tuesday night and bailed the following day.

Police were called to the Oxenden Square and Avenue Road area at 10pm Tuesday following a report that a man from Herne Bay had been injured with a shotgun in the leg and also had a head wound.

He was taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate where he is recovering.

Police believe that the incident took place in Oxenden Square earlier in the evening.

Ch Supt John Molloy, area commander for police in east Kent, said: “We believe that this is related to a domestic matter."
