Ebbsfleet United manager Dennis Kutrieb says he can keep big squad happy ahead of FA Cup game against Sevenoaks Town

Manager Dennis Kutrieb believes he can keep his big squad happy while Ebbsfleet carry on winning games.

The Fleet boss shuffled his pack again last weekend, making six changes, and he has a plethora of talent to call upon in his 24-strong squad.

Even with injuries to the likes of Kieran Monlouis, Josh Wright and Chris Haigh, there are still players who have had limited game time so far this term.

But it’s not a problem as far as the Ebbsfleet manager is concerned.

“At the moment it’s easy as you are successful and winning games so everyone wants to be part of it,” said Kutrieb.

“Everyone knows we need to be up for it because in two weeks’ time we have eight games in four weeks.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we need every single player in the squad there. Everyone needs to be sure they are sharp as they will get game time.

“It might be an advantage if you have a big squad and everyone is on the same page, that we can utilise our squad.

“We try to involve everyone as much as possible and if someone has no chance at the moment, we tell them what the reason is and try to encourage everyone. It will not always be as easy as it looked against Taunton.

“We need to make sure everyone is together, regardless of if they come off the bench, are not in the squad and are then involved, then you have a chance.”

So how does Kutrieb decide his starting XI from week to week? It’s certainly not a task that he shies away from, and results so far suggest he has got all the big calls spot-on.

“It’s not difficult for me, not at all,” he stated, with his side already posting 11 wins and a draw in their first 12 league games. “That’s my job.

“I can’t say I have a difficult job because it’s the best thing in the world if you win games, you pick your team and they win regardless of who is playing.

“Maybe for the fans it is a bit different as they can’t see massive differences but, obviously, I can see differences in our squad, who might be better for this opponent or where we need to be careful with minutes, who is ready to go week in week out, who we still need to build minutes up for.

“There are so many things that we need to look at and try to make the right decisions. Obviously, you can’t make everyone happy at the same time, that’s normal.”

Ebbsfleet will aim to reach the First Round of the FA Cup for the second successive season under Kutrieb this weekend.

They host Isthmian South East Sevenoaks at Stonebridge Road but Kutrieb’s personal dream is much bigger than the First Round in a competition he loves being involved in.

“I can’t talk about aims in this competition because I am so new,” said Kutrieb. “If I said this is the aim, it wouldn’t be right.

“My aim was always to be in the hat when we can play a massive team from the Premier League. That would be amazing, to go to a Premier League team and see how they are set up would be my aim.

“I’m humble and I take everything. If we get to the First Round and play a good opponent and lose the game, happy days. We can’t pick who we want to have but I can’t say we’re one goal away from our aim as that wouldn’t be the truth.

“It’s a massive chance for us to get into the First Round and that’s obviously good for everyone, for the fans and the club. Maybe it’s one of the best draws we could get on paper but you still have to be aware and bring your performance on the pitch.

“It’s a home game and two leagues below so I can’t ask for anything more, now we have to deliver, as simple as that.”

It is, as Kutrieb states, a great chance to progress for Ebbsfleet. But Sevenoaks won at Bath in the previous round and the Fleet boss knows the visitors have got nothing to lose - especially as the draw was unkind to them.

“They’ve won at Bath but I think it’s a very unlucky draw for them because we are still not a big club like a National League team, we’re something in between where everyone says we don’t want to have that draw,” claimed Kutrieb.

“They don’t have a home game either so for them it’s not a lucky draw.

“But they will come here and take a chance, they will go for it and that’s what I expect. We need to be up for it and if we’re not then we will see a big upset because they are a good side and can play, we’ve watched them already. I can’t ask for anything more and now it’s our time to deliver.”
