Summer signing Jordan Parkes scored twice as Ebbsfleet won their latest pre-season friendly, 3-2 at Welling on Saturday.

Parkes, a regular scorer with former club Hemel Hempstead, made the move to Stonebridge Road in the close season and has clearly wasted no time settling into the new set-up under boss Daryl McMahon.

At the heart of everything the Fleet did, Parkes showed great movement, clever feet and an eye for a pass - not to mention an eye for a goal.

Ebbsfleet dominated the first half, not looking back from the moment trialist Welling keeper Ben McNamara's fumble gifted Parkes a ninth-minute tap-in.

The unmarked Alex Osborn should have made it 2-0 just before the half-hour but somehow headed wide Robbie Willmott's right-wing cross.

Matt Fish's long-range drive was turned over and a training ground corner routine saw Parkes fire against the woodwork from 20 yards after Stuart Lewis' cutback.

Former Welling and Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell should have scored from close range but he fluffed his effort after more good work from the impressive Parkes.

Welling were virtually non-existent as an attacking force until the final five minutes of the half.

Excellent interchange ended with Reece Harris crossing for Ricky Wellard, whose close-range header was turned behind by Brandon Hall. The resulting Wellard corner was then turned wide by Michael Chambers.

The Fleet doubled their lead in injury time when a corner was never cleared and Kenny Clark had the simple task of scoring from a yard.

The second half was a different matter. Welling fielded two new forwards in George Porter and Afolabi Obafemi and it had an immediate impact.

Another Wellard header was well saved by Hall before excellent play by summer recruit Xavier Vidal on 55 minutes saw his cross turned in by Wellard.

On 64 minutes it was 2-2. Wellard won the second ball ahead of John Paul Kissock and Porter's cross was converted by Obafemi.

Fleet should have gone back in front but substitute Dean Rance fluffed a glorious opening with 20 minutes to go.

The winner came with 12 minutes left when Fish's deep cross was expertly headed in at the far post by Parkes, who made a difficult chance look easy.
