The London Golf Club has been added to the roster of regional qualifying venues for the Open Championship, starting in 2010.

The Kent club, situated in Ash, near Brands Hatch, will be one of 15 UK venues staging the regional events for amateur and professional golfers hoping to play in the 150th Open Championship in 2010. The Open itself will be held on the Old Course, St Andrews.

The London Club's selection by the Open's governing body, the R&A, serves as further recognition of the championship calibre of the club's Heritage Course, which was designed by Jack Nicklaus and on which the 2008 European Open was played on the European Tour.

Abigail Nance, marketing director at The London Golf Club, said: “The decision has come as a welcome endorsement that The London Golf Club meets the stringent criteria of the Royal & Ancient and we look forward to welcoming the region’s top golfers in their quest to qualify for the Open Championship."

The London Club joins Uckfield's East Sussex National as new Regional Quyalifying venues in the South East for 2010.
