Ebbsfleet’s winning run came to a shuddering halt when they were well beaten at Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday night.

Shane Huke (pictured) and Anthony Cook scored in stoppage-time at the end of the game but Steve Brown's side were 3-0 down by that stage.

The hosts went in front after just nine minutes when veteran striker Cliff Akurang turned and fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Preston Edwards.

And the Fleet were 2-0 down inside half an hour. Matt Johnson’s free-kick was headed back across goal by Sean Francis and Akurang pounced for his second of the night.

Joe Howe then went off with a groin injury which is likely to keep him out of Saturday's FA Cup clash with Dartford.

Stortford scored a third goal nine minutes after the restart. Herd combined well with George Sykes to set up Kyle Vassell for a close-range finish.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men when Anthony Church was shown a second yellow card but his dismissal didn’t affect the game.

Huke headed against the woodwork and then did find the back of the net but his and Cook's goals came too late to affect the outcome.
