Fleet's MacDonald sidelined for months

MacDONALD: fell awkwardly
MacDONALD: fell awkwardly

EBBSFLEET United's summer signing Gary MacDonald is likely to miss a huge chunk of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon on his debut on August 11 against Northwich Victoria.

Centre half MacDonald fell awkwardly in the closing stages of Ebbsfleet’s 2-1 win and had to be helped off.

An operation was carried out last Monday and MacDonald now faces several months out.

Meanwhile, boss Liam Daish bolstered his squad with the signings of striker Chris McPhee, defender Phil Starkey and goalkeeper Scott Tynan.

Tynan joined at short notice following an injury to Lance Cronin.
