Garry Hill insists all the pressure is on the teams above Ebbsfleet as they bid to sneak into the National League play-offs.

Fleet are just one point behind seventh-placed Eastleigh with four games of the regular season remaining.

They host Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday on the back of a six-match unbeaten run and chasing a fourth straight home win.

Hill said: “When the pressure’s on, it can affect clubs.

“We’ve just got to do our own job over the next three weeks and see where it takes us.

“It’s on the day when you play football, if you take your opportunities.

“All I ask us to do is work hard, play to the standards we have been playing over a period of time consistently and I think we’ve got a good chance.

“You can’t really say much more than that.

“Those teams in the top-seven, I think there’s more pressure on them to stay in there than there is on the teams just outside.

“We’ve come a long way in a short space of time and it’s been difficult at times, whether it’s on or off the pitch, but there are strong characters in the playing squad.

“Me and Ian Hendon have managed the playing squad very well and that’s what it’s always going to be about, managing players irrespective of how good they are.

“We have been very consistent in respect of our results so the players have certainly responded and I’m sure they will over the last four games.”

Ebbsfleet have scored 10 goals in their last three home games including a 4-2 win against high-flying Wrexham last time out.

“We look strong going forward,” said Hill.

“Gozie Ugwu coming into the team with Michael Cheek has really added a bit of freshness up top and a certain amount of mobility.

“That’s no disrespect to the other players but the front two are a handful.

“Our goals-against ratio is very strong as well.

“We’ve only conceded 17 league goals in 22 games with 12 clean sheets so that says a great deal.

“With where we’ve come from to where we are now, I think for level-headed people it’s beyond their dreams from when we came in, seeing a situation at the wrong end of the table with a concern more than where we are now with a certain amount of belief.”

Lawrie Wilson is back this weekend after missing the 1-1 draw at Gateshead for personal reasons.

That gives Hill a welcome selection headache in defence after fit-again club captain Dave Winfield completed 90 minutes for the first time since December.
