Fleet takeover deal nearing completion

WILL BROOKS, the man behind the history-making takeover of Ebbsfleet United, says the deal will be completed before the end of the January transfer window to give Liam Daish funds to buy new players.

However, the founder of MyFootballClub.co.uk believes it will not pose a problem should the on-going takeover negotiations extend into February.

He said: “It will be completed in time for the January window, we are very close to sealing the deal.

“The whole process has gone relatively quickly and it is only two months after the offer was agreed in principle – if you were buying a house it could take a lot longer.”

He added: “But completion by the end of January is not absolutely crucial, it is not as if Liam (Daish) has a list of players he wants to spend half a million on and can only do so in the transfer window.”

Daish has recently extended the contract of striker John Akinde and has gone on record to say he is happy with his current crop of players although he admits to the side needing some strengthening.

Brooks said: “In the Blue Square Premier you have loan signings and free transfers which can be done outside the transfer window.

“There is no need to rush and I think Liam already has in mind the players he wants to keep and how he wants to take the team forward, and MyFootballClub coming in doesn’t change any of that.”
