MIDFIELDER Richard Hodgson has been released by Gravesend after failing to command a regular first team place.

The return to fitness of Steve McKimm has given Fleet boss Liam Daish more players fighting for a midfield spot and Hodgson was deemed surplus to requirements at Steonbridge Road.

Daish said: "It is unfortunate for the lad but we now have a few options in midfield and he needs regular football.

Fleet return to Stonebridge Road on Saturday when lowly Scarborough are the visitors in the Nationwide Conference.
