Ebbsfleet returned to pre-season training yesterday (Wednesday) with manager Liam Daish keen to give every player a chance to impress.

The FA Trophy winners will be working on their fitness levels before taking on Charlton in their first pre-season friendly on July 12.

Daish said: “The players have had a break. We’re six weeks away from the start of the season so they’ve got to get their heads down and start working.

“We’ll be working on building fitness levels up until the first game. It will start off easy and then we’ll build it up.

“I’ve got quite a bulk of the squad which we had last year so I don’t want to mess about too much. I might try a few things.”

Although the majority of Fleet’s FA Trophy winning squad have returned to the club, Daish insists every player will be given a chance to prove their worth.

He added: “What happened last year was great but it is a new season. I’ll be looking at who is sharpest and who is more prepared for the first game.”
