Fleet keeper crisis over

Aldershot Town v Gravesend & Northfleet

LANCE CRONIN solved Gravesend’s goalkeeper crisis this week when he signed a one-year deal for the club.

Manager Liam Daish picked the 20-year-old former Crystal Palace, Wycombe, Oldham and Shrewsbury youngster ahead of five other trialists after losing Craig Holloway to damaged cruciate knee ligaments for the rest of the season.

Cronin makes his debut in Saturday’s Nationwide Conference curtain-raiser at Aldershot after impressing in pre-season friendlies against Hornchurch and Chelmsford.

Daish said: "When word got out that we were in the market for a goalkeeper six trailists suddenly turned up.

"Lance impressed and I asked our goalkeeper coach Ron Hillyard to have a good look at him in training."
