Fleet fail to fire in stalemate

Forest Green Rovers 0 Gravesend & Northfleet 0

GRAVESEND dropped one place to 12th in the Nationwide Conference league table with a goalless draw at struggling Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night.

Both sides worked hard to break the deadlock but neither were able to create enough goalscoring chances and the two keepers rarely found themselves called into action.

Having lost 3-1 to leaders Accrington at Stonebridge Road on Friday, Fleet were pleased to have taken something out of the game.

Chances were scarce in the first half as both teams cancelled each other out.

Michael Brough had Forest Green’s only real chance just after the break when he beat his marker inside the box but hit his shot over the bar.

Bradley Johnson replaced Bobby Bowry after 54 minutes, before Onome Sodje went closest for the visitors when he fired over on 71 minutes.

Danny Slatter and Mark Rawle also missed the target with efforts from distance.

One of the major plus points for Fleet was that Steve McKimm came through his first full 90 minutes since suffering a knee injury against Woking in April.

Gravesend: Holloway, Gooding, McCarthy, R Smith, Watkins, Slatter (Fuller 90), McKimm, Bowry (Johnson 55), Drury, Sodje (Moore 79), Rawle.
Subs Not Used: Kerr, J Smith.
Attendance: 582.
