GRAVESEND manager Liam Daish underlined his determination to see his side finish the season well by hotting up competition for midfield places with two new signings.

Into Stonebridge Road have come 27-year-old Cedric Anselin, who made his debut as a substitute in Saturday’s 3-2 home win over Canvey, and ex-Charlton reserve Adrian Deane.

Anselin joins the Fleet after a spell with Football League 2 club Cambridge United. In his native France he played for Bordeaux before joining Norwich City. His arrival increases the club’s French contingent following the signing of Jean-Michel Sigere.

London-born Deane, 22, has made the Fleet his third Nationwide Conference club after spells with Crawley and Farnborough.

During his time with Charlton he established himself as a reserve team regular while representing the Republic of Ireland at every level up to Under-21s. He qualifies for Ireland because both his parents come from Balina, Co Mayo. He is equally at home on either flank.

Both players have been signed on a non-contract basis and will stay until the end of the season.

Daish said: "We’re planning for next season and want to take a good look at the pair."

The Fleet could be influential in deciding the fate of Conference relegation candidates Northwich and Forest Green over the Easter period.

They visit Northwich, who hover just above the drop zone on goal difference, on Friday before returning to Stonebridge Road on Monday to play third from bottom Forest Green Rovers.
