Fleet beaten on the road

York 3 Ebbsfleet 1

Ebbsfleet suffered their second league defeat on the spin as they let a lead slip at York on Saturday.

Fleet took the lead in the 26th minute when George Purcell's corner was headed up in the air and eventually fell to Michael Gash who sent a superb scissor kick beyond York keeper Michael Ingham.

The equaliser came on the hour mark when Steven Hogg's free kick caused a scramble in the box and Adam Smith netted his first goal for York.

And the home side were ahead less than seven minutes later when Richard Brodie turned Sasha Opinel inside out and beat Lance Cronin with a left-foot shot.

Former Fleet forward Onome Sodje proved the immutable law of the ex when he sent a stunning overhead kick into the corner of Cronin's goal to wrap up the points for York with 13 minutes to play.

Fleet: Cronin, Pooley, Murray, Smith, Opinel, Slatter, Stone (Ibe 78), Long, Purcell, Gash, Moore (Shakes 52). Subs not used: Hawkins, Ricketts, French.

Attendance: 1,997.
