Ebbsfleet United's Matt Fish says the pressure will be on Maidstone United and Sutton United at the end of the season

Matt Fish says the title pressure is about to shift to Ebbsfleet’s rivals Maidstone and Sutton.

Fleet are seven points clear at the top of National League South with six games to play, although the two sides trying to catch them both have games in hand.

Sutton face another nine matches between now and the end of the season while Stones must negotiate eight – one of which is at home to Sutton on Tuesday, April 5.

Fish said: "There’s no pressure on Sutton and Maidstone at the minute, until they play their games in hand. That’s when all the pressure on them comes.

"We’ve had the pressure here all season, so we’ll see how they cope under that pressure.

"Sutton and Maidstone have to play Tuesday-Saturday, so when we’re sitting at home on a Tuesday night, the pressure will be on them.

"They’ve not had that, so we’ll see if they can produce when we’re not playing. That’s when it really counts, their games in hand.

"We’re on top of the table, we can enjoy it and play our football and they’ve got to come and get us."

Fish’s first Ebbsfleet goal, on his return from a three-match ban, helped them demolish Hemel Hempstead 6-0 at Stonebridge Road on Saturday. The full-back was sent off at Truro last month but only Danny Kedwell has started more league games in 2015-16.

Fish said: "I’ve felt good this season. I’ve got forward a lot, been good on the ball and feel comfortable.

"I came here last season, started well and then it got a bit sticky.

"Jamie Day left and the gaffer (Daryl McMahon) came in so I didn’t know what was going to happen but the gaffer’s been great.

"He’s improved me defensively and going forward as well. I’ve enjoyed it and look forward to hopefully picking up a trophy at the end of it."
