Double blow as Bentley quits Fleet

FANS' FAVOURITE: Mark Bentley
FANS' FAVOURITE: Mark Bentley

GRAVESEND & Northfleet, already reeling from the news that skipper Jimmy Jackson is moving to Dagenham and Redbridge, are to lose another leading player.

Midfielder Mark Bentley is also joining the Daggers who were play-off runners-up in the Conference last season.

Following his move from Aldershot last summer, Bentley made a huge impact in his first season and quickly established himself as a big favourite with Fleet fans. He swept the board in the club's Player of the Year awards last month.

Like Jackson, Bentley leaves on a free transfer. Club chairman Brian Kilcullen confirmed: "Mark has given Dagenham a verbal undertaking that he is joining them. We're sorry to be losing both players."
