Sam Billings had an England one-day international debut to remember on Tuesday.

The Hartley Country Club batsman made just three with the bat but watched on as England made a record 408-9 in 50 overs against New Zealand at Edgbaston.

Billings, who keeps wicket for Kent, was not selected behind the stumps for his country with Jos Buttler also in the England team but he did contribute in the field, running out Grant Elliott for 24 during New Zealand’s innings.

England won the first of the five-match series by 210 runs and Billings will look to keep his place against the tourists at The Kia Oval on Friday.
