Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon demands immediate amends for lacklustre display against Hampton & Richmond

Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon has demanded an immediate response after the worst performance under his tenure.

McMahon blasted his team’s quality in the second half on Tuesday night in the 1-1 draw against Hampton & Richmond at Stonebridge Road and felt it was the worse display since he took over in April last year.

He said: “It was a real sloppy, almost lazy, performance which is not acceptable. When I say performance that’s me included as well, we’re all in this together. It’s not what I expect to see from us as a group.

"We need to bounce back on Saturday and put a performance on.”

Fleet host Ryman League Harrow in the FA Trophy third qualifying round and McMahon added: “It has to hurt to lose, I know it hurts me to lose.

“I want to see players that care, run around and make tackles, get on the ball and pass it properly. Simple, basic things in football that we haven’t seen.

"As a player myself, when I left the pitch I knew if I played well or not and if we didn’t win then I’d feel responsible.

“The biggest disappointment for me was the performance. Forgetting the result, you are not going to win any game of football against anyone with that kind of performance. If we perform like that against Harrow on Saturday, we’ll lose.”

Fleet will be without two of their regular centre-backs this weekend. Dave Winfield serves the third of his four-match ban while Mark Phillips starts a four-match suspension after his red card against Maidenhead.

Phillips has an additional match to serve after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season on Tuesday night.

Fleet, who drafted in defender Louis John on a two-month loan from Sutton at the end of last week, have allowed midfielder John Paul Kissock to join AFC Telford on a one-month loan deal.
