Ebbsfleet striker John Akinde has completed his £150,000 move to Championship side Bristol City.

The 19-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Ashton Gate, making the step-up from the Blue Square Premier to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Fleet will receive a further £25,000 if Akinde features (either in the starting line-up or as substitute) after 10 matches, and a further £100,000 if he features in 50 per cent of matches if City win promotion to the Barclays Premiership.

Ebbsfleet will also receive 20 per cent of any sell-on fee if Akinde leaves City for more than £150,000 in the future.

Akinde told City's website: "As a whole Bristol City is a good club. They've got a good set-up here.

"It's a massive step up but I'm willing to work hard and hopefully I'll get to grips with it pretty quickly."

The new signing has been included in City's reserve squad for their match against Southampton tonight.

More than 7,000 members of MyFootballClub voted to accept the bid for Akinde on Friday. He scored twice for Fleet in the Blue Square Premier this season.

Ebbsfleet chief executive David Davis said: "The fans had the final say in whether the club should accept the offer for John and they did so by an overwhelming majority, around 80 per cent.

"Initially we did not identify Bristol City as the club that had made the offer, as it was the value, structure and reasoning behind the proposal, rather than where it had come from, which was of relevance to the fans.

"Being able to share decision-making with the 30,000 club owners and have transparency is what MyFootballClub is trying to achieve, and we would like to thank Bristol City for their flexibility and co-operation as we carried out the necessary voting process with our supporters."
