POLICE have issued an appeal regarding two men they wish to speak to in connection with a murder in Gravesend.

Kamaljit Kalon, 31, known to his friends as Bobby, was stabbed in Gravesend's promenade on July 10 last year.

It is thought Mr Kalon, from Sidcup, had visited Gravesend that day for a pre-arranged meeting to sort out a domestic dispute. But his trip resulted in him being stabbed in broad daylight more than 40 times and in front of many families.

His killers have never been caught. At a packed press conference police revealed the identities of the two men they would like to speak to.

Mr Kalon's widow Ravinder Kalon also made an emotional appeal for information.

She said: "I know I cannot bring him back but I want to see justice done. I want to see those who stabbed my loving husband be brought before the courts. If you do know where these men are please let the police know."

The two men officers want to trace are Jinder Kooner, 29, who was last know to have lived in Astra Drive, Gravesend, and Guljinder Singh Gurewel, 27, who is also believed to have lived in Gravesend.

Mr Kooner is also known as Jindi, Jandi Singh, Kunnar Guljinder Singh, Singh Baljinder and Kooner Jatinder. Mr Gurewel is also known as Baljinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Joga Singh.

Police have said the two men could still be in the Kent area, but may have fled to the north of the country or even as far away as the Punjab area of India.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Anne Brittain explained the police had taken the unusual step of releasing details of the men in the hope of taking the investigation forward. She said: "The only way we can progress the investigation is to trace the two men. Despite every attempt we have been unable to trace them so far."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 01622 654850 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
