POLICE say a 28-year-old man may have been scarred for life following a serious assault outside a Kent pub.

Members of a police patrol found the man covered in blood and bleeding profusely from a wound down the side of his face and around his throat.

The discovery was made at about 8.30pm last Friday outside the Call Boy public house in Harmer Street, Gravesend.

The man was taken to hospital where he needed more than 40 stitches to treat the injury.

At this time, police officers are unsure what weapon was used to inflict the injury. They are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of the Call Boy pub or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact them.

PC Geoff McCreery, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a very violent attack and one that was potentially life threatening. We need to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened that night.”

If you have information about this incident or were in the area at the time, call PC McCreery at Gravesend Police Station on 01474 565203. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111.
