Village mourns after oldest resident is killed in road crash

A VILLAGE is mourning the loss of its oldest resident after a 96-year-old man was killed in a road accident on Thursday morning.

Tom Hole was on his daily walk to pick up a paper when he was hit by a car not far from the Culverstone Green home he shared with daughter Pam.

Speaking after the tragic accident, she said: "We're just in shock. I loved him so much."

Police have appealed for witnesses to the fatal collision.

Our website broke the news soon after the accident which happened in South Street, near Culverstone Green at about 9.25am.

The driver of the car was uninjured but Mr Hole died at the scene.

The road was closed for about four hours while police collected forensic evidence and made inquiries.

Police are particularly keen to speak to a lorry driver travelling towards Gravesend at the time who may have witnessed the incident.
