Tributes to teen killed on New Year's day

Tributes have been left on a social networking site in memory of a pretty Gravesham teenager killed in a road traffic collision on New Year’s Day.

Sophia Edwards from Harvel, near Meopham, died in Kings College Hospital, hours after the Ford Fiesta she was travelling in hit a bus stop in Bexley Road at the junction with Glenesk Road, Eltham.

Distraught friends have left tributes to the 17-year-old, of Dean Lane, on a Facebook memorial group - Rest In Paradise Sophia Edwards.

Friend Chelsie Bagnall wrote: "If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

"Love you chicken. All I can do now is think of the happy moments we had together and try to drown out the tears and sadness."

The Met are appealing for anyone to come forward who may have witnessed the incident, which happened at around 1.45am on January 1. The 21 year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta suffered a broken collarbone and broken neck and an 18-year-old front seat passenger sustained minor cuts and bruises.

Witnesses can contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 285 1574.
