Plans for a 33-storey tower in a Kent town centre - a development expected to create hundreds of jobs - have been sensationally shelved.

Developers Edinburgh House had applied to Gravesham council to build the controversial glass and steel tower block on the riverfront at St Andrew's Gardens, Gravesend.

The collapse of the plan was announced at a press conference on Tuesday at Gravesham civic centre.
