A taxi driver was beaten and robbed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The driver is believed to have picked up two men and a woman, from New Road, Gravesend.

They asked to be dropped in Rose Street, Northfleet near The Hive at about 1am on Saturday.

On arrival a passsenger in the back seat grabbed the driver from behind, while the passenger in the front seat punched him, while demanding money.

The front passenger grabbed the blue cash tin which contained about £20 before all three passengers ran off towards Ebbsfleet.

The woman is described as white, about 25, large, with blonde and red hair in a pony tail, and wore jeans and a floral top.

The men were both white, and about 25. One is thought to be about 5ft 8, stocky, with short black hair and wore dark clothes.

DC Claire Hartill, of Kent Police, said: "This was a violent incident which has left the victim shaken and upset.

Crime Scene Investigators examined the taxi and detectives are checking CCTV footage from the area.

"We are keen to hear from anyone that may have seen the suspects in the area around the time of the incident."
