On February 12, a driver parked his Ford Fiesta in Stuart Road and, on his return, found a side window had been damaged and his wallet was missing from inside.

Bank cards from the wallet were allegedly used to make fraudulent purchases at shops in the town on the same day.

On Wednesday last week, Charles Belsham, of no fixed address, was charged with theft and seven counts of fraud.

The suspect appeared before magistrates in Medway following his arrest in Gravesend over the weekend.

Belsham was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court today (Monday).
