Ebbsfleet handed midfielder Stefan Bailey his debut on Tuesday night but he couldn’t prevent his new team falling to defeat in Blue Square Premier.

Bailey, who started his carrer at QPR, impressed in pre-season and agreed terms with boss Liam Daish prior to the match.

However, Stevenage proved too strong for the Fleet and their experience was a key factor in brushing aside the visitors.

Chris Beardsley opened the scoring in the eighth minute as a confident home side charged towards their first win of the season.

Having hit the woodwork through Mark Roberts, Joel Byrom made it 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining.

Defender Lawrie Wilson added a third late on to leave Daish plenty to ponder ahead of this Saturday’s trip to a Mansfield side, who have taken 10 points from their first four games.
