Ebbsfleet are out of the FA Trophy after losing 2-0 at holders Stevenage on Saturday.

The Fleet's own trophy glory seemed a mile away, especially as Stacy Long - who helped Liam Daish's side lift the silverware in 2008 - line up for the hosts, who were one of Ebbsfleet's victims on their way to Wembley last year.

Stevenage took the lead after just 14 minutes when Long's free-kick found Mitchell Cole who squared for an unmarked Chris Beardsley to finish into an almost open net.

Cole saw his effort tipped over the bar by Fleet keeper Lance Cronin early in the second half as the home side pushed for a second.

The result was eventually put beyond doubt in the 89th minute as David Bridges slid a shot past Cronin's outstretched glove from just outside the area.

In truth, Fleet deserved little more from a game where they failed to create a meaningful chance and are now left to concentrate on Blue Square Premier survival.
