Ring doorbell footage captures car fire and fight in Parrock Street, Gravesend where man was stabbed

A doorbell camera captured the shocking moment a car was set alight and a fight broke out in a town centre.

The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday in Gravesend and saw four men charged after another was stabbed.

In videos shared with KentOnline, a man wearing a hood can be seen pouring liquid from a bottle over a grey car parked outside a hair salon at around 2.20am.

He is then seen setting fire to it, before running away as the car bursts into flames.

The doorbell camera picked up another incident at around 5.20am, along Parrock Street, which is thought to be linked to the fire.

A group of men were captured fighting and yelling before running in and out of shot as more join them. They appear to be carrying weapons.

When they return, some are seen jumping up and down onto a car in the middle of the one-way system while others surround the vehicle, hitting it.

As this is happening, the burnt-out car sits still in shot behind red incident tape.

Four men have since been charged in connection to the incident after another was reportedly stabbed in the chest. He was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Alan Ali, 30, of Milton Road, Gravesend, is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, violent disorder and possessing a bladed object in a public place.

Mazin Rasuli, 23, of Wellington Street, Gravesend, has been charged with violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon.

Zhinar Ali, 22, of Peacock Street, Gravesend, has been charged with violent disorder.

Shakwahan Mahmood, 32, of Parrock Street, Gravesend, has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon.

All four men appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where the case was sent to Woolwich Crown Court. They will appear there on March 21.

A 23-year-old man from Brighton was also arrested but has been bailed until Tuesday, May 9, while officers carry out further inquiries.

The road was taped off throughout the day, from the Conservative Club to the junction with Manor Road, while officers investigated the incident.

Police officers were seen searching nearby rubbish bins and were at the scene for most of the day.

The blaze happened outside Kula Kuts hair salon and caused damage to the shop front and driveway, said owner Gary Lane.

He added: "I was just about to leave for my birthday party in Brighton and was told I needed to speak with the police.

"A lot of our shop front is damaged and needs replacing. The glass is all cracked and the signs will need redoing. The driveway has also been melted away.

"It is going to be big money to fix it all but I will be looking to sort it as soon as possible."

He estimates it could cost around £50,000 to fix the damage to the shop but said he was lucky the safety glass did not shatter otherwise "his whole shop would have gone up in smoke".

Gary also said he has heard others have had their windows and doors smashed elsewhere in the town.
