Second man charged over Wallis Park murder

DETECTIVES investigating the death of 36-year-old Ted Shaxted in Wallis Park, Northfleet in December last year have charged a second man with his murder.

Bill Harry Saunders, 27, of Shamrock Road, Gravesend appeared before Dartford Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded into custody.

He is next due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on July, 7 2008.

Mr Shaxted died in hospital on Sunday, December 16, 2007 from injuries caused when he was attacked in his home two weeks earlier.

Trevor Lees, 35, of London Road, Northfleet, was charged with murdering Mr Shaxted on March, 18 2008. He appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on June, 2 and pleaded Not Guilty to the charge of murder. A trial date has been set for January, 5 2009 and the trial is expected to last for three weeks.

One man arrested previously in connection with this incident, remains on police bail pending further inquiries.
