Schoolgirl gives evidence in flasher case

A GIRL has told a court of her shock at twice seeing a man expose himself as she walked to school in Gravesend.

The teenager said she and another girl and a boy were minutes away from the school gates when they were confronted by the flasher.

He had both his hands down his trousers, she said, and was performing a sex act.

On the second occasion, she and another girl were walking down an alley when they saw the same man exposing himself.

Both times he had with him what she described as a "trampy" dog.

The witness is one of 10 girls giving evidence in the trial of Gavin MacDonald, 24, of Doria Drive, Gravesend, who denies five charges of exposure and two of engaging in sexual activity in front of a child.

The girl said during the first incident in October 2007 she spotted the man about two car lengths away in Cervia Way.

"There were quite a few other kids around," she said. "I don't know if they saw. He was looking at other girls.

"I was a bit shocked. It made me feel a bit sick he was doing it near school kids.

"We went into school. I didn't tell anyone else. I didn't think anything of it until the next day."

That was when she witnessed a similar incident. She was with another girl at the top of an alley when they saw the man again.

"We didn't want to go down it," she said. "He could tell we were hesitating. We went down quickly. He was walking pretty fast, trying to keep up with us."

She saw that the man was exposing himself and performing a sex act.

"I concentrated on walking and getting us out of there," she said.

They went into school and told a teacher, who called the police. The girl said she later attended an identification procedure, but was not sure when shown pictures of several men.

The trial continues.
