Roads in Chalk to remain closed until October due to gas works

Four roads in Chalk near Gravesend will remain closed until at least October due to gas works.

Kent County Council ordered the six week closure from Monday August 23 to enable gas company SGN to complete works in the area.

Affected roads include:

  • Lower Higham Road, between Castle Lane and Chalk Road
  • Castle Lane, at the junction with Lower Higham Road
  • Orlick Road, at the junction with Lower Higham Road
  • Vicarage Lane, at the junction with Lower Higham Road.

The alternative route is via Lower Road in Shorne; Chalk Road in Higham; School Lane, Forge Lane, A226, Gravesend Road from Higham to Shorne, Rochester Road to Chalk Road in Gravesend, and Lower Higham Road.

HGVs are advised to use the alternate route via Lower Rochester Road.
