House plans submitted to Sevenoaks District Council for former Lazzat Indian restaurant in Wrotham

Plans to demolish a popular Indian restaurant have been drawn up.

Applicant Halil Ersunger has applied for permission to knock down the former curry house Lazzat, in Wrotham, between Meopham and Sevenoaks, and then to build two houses.

The site, which also used to be the La Capennina Restaurant on the A227 Gravesend Road, near Vigo Village, was sold at auction in May for £752,000.

Plans were then submitted to Sevenoaks council to demolish the restaurant, outbuildings, remove the car park and build the two, five-bedroom homes with gardens.

Two car parking spaces and a garage with an electric charging point per house have also been suggested as part of the scheme.

The potential floor plans for each plot include three bathrooms spread across the two floors, a living room, kitchen, dining room, porch, cloakroom, snug, study and gym on the ground floor with five-bedrooms on the first floor.

The provided design and access statement added: “The scheme will retain the openness of the greenbelt as the proposed houses cover no more ground than the existing buildings and are no higher.

“The appearance of the site, as seen from Gravesend Road, will be improved, by replacing a large car park with a landscaped garden and modest drive, and as seen from Oak Farm Lane, by replacing a conglomeration of outbuildings and commercial plant with a welcoming, traditional bungalow facade.

“The removal of the existing building reduces overshadowing the neighbours gardens to the north and the new houses do not overlook the neighbours.

“The scheme should therefore be supported.”
