Police were out in force in West Street this morning looking to catch drivers not wearing their seatbelts.

Three police cars were parked in the street at 8am and officers were spotted talking to drivers who had been pulled over.

Sergeant Sarah Rivett said they were carrying out safety checks and seeing if drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Sgt Rivett added that they may carry out checks in West Street more regularly in future.
