Police appeal for robbery witness

POLICE investigating a robbery are appealing for help to trace a car and its driver who may have vital evidence.

The red car they are trying to trace, was blocked in at Kent Road, Gravesend at around 5.30am on Saturday, May 24 by a silver or grey four-door car, which had stopped in the middle of the road.

The arrival of the red car caused the other car to drive off to let it through.

It went round the block before again approaching a woman in her mid 20s who was walking along Kent Road from the direction of Darnley Road.

The driver then got out of the car and approached the victim. When she got out her mobile phone to make a call, her phone was snatched out of her hand and the man drove off.

He was stocky, in his mid 20s, and around 5ft 11in tall with short dark hair. He wore light black jeans, a long sleeved white checked short and black pointed shoes. He also had on a watch with a gold strap.

Det Con Jan Metherell, who is investigating the robbery, said: “The victim was on her way to work when she was first approached by the car which was forced to drive off because it was blocking the road.

“We would like to trace the driver of that red car who may have vital evidence to help with our investigations.”

If you can help, call Det Con Metherell at North Kent Police Station on 01474 366098 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
