Motorcyclist killed in A2 collision is named

A motorcyclist killed in a crash on the A2 has been named as 43-year-old Stephen Whiting, of Sydney Road, Chatham.

Police want to trace the driver of a van they believe was involved in the accident.

The collision happened on the A2 coastbound at 5.35pm on Friday, December 5.

It occurred between the Cobham turn-off and the A289 Strood junction.

Kent Police spokesman Jane Walker said: "Police are trying to trace the driver of a vehicle described by witnesses as a white flatbed van.

"It is believed to have been involved in the collision but did not stop.

"The driver may have been unaware of the collision and it is unclear whether the van would have been damaged."

Police want witnesses who may have seen the van parked, possibly with damage to it.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have seen the the red Suzuki bike and van being driven just before the crash.

The make and registration of the van it is not known but it is understood to be a small flatbed rather than a truck.
