Man wedged in fence in Saddington Street, Gravesend

A man was found hanging upside down by emergency services after becoming partially impaled on a fence.

The man, thought to be in his 20s, was rescued by fire crews after he became wedged between two bars of a 10 ft spiked metal fence near the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara temple in Saddington Street, Gravesend.

It is not known how long he was hanging there for.

Emergency services were called at 5.30am today (Saturday) and found the man's lower leg caught in the fence.

Fire crews attended the scene for an hour and a half and used a rescue platform to stabilise his leg.

They worked with ambulance crews to assess the casualty further before releasing his upper leg, which was partially impaled on the fence, using hydraulic rescue equipment.

His condition is not yet known.
