Dartford man charged after individual seen with weapon in Pelham Road, Gravesend

A man has been charged after reports an individual was seen waving a suspected weapon at people in the street.

Officers were called to Pelham Road in Gravesend at around 6.10am on Saturday, September 2.

A CCTV image was later released of a man allegedly pointing the weapon, which resembled a rifle, in the direction of several people including three men at a bus stop.

On Tuesday, armed patrols were spotted at two addresses in Gravesend and two men were arrested.

Danny Collins, 32, of Heath Lane, Dartford, has now been charged with three counts of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, as well as two counts of possessing an offensive weapon, and a charge of affray.

He was further charged with two counts of assault, in relation to a separate incident.

This is alleged to have happened in Gravesend High Street at around 4.10am on Saturday. Two women are reported to have been assaulted.

The suspect is remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

The second man arrested, 29, from Gravesend, has been bailed pending further inquiries until December 1.
