The victim was left with a fractured skull after the attack, which also saw another man kicked and punched, police say.

The pair were set upon by two men, who stormed into the Ridgeway Avenue property between 11.40am and 12.30pm on Tuesday, January 5.

Their attackers are then thought to have driven away in a black E-Class Mercedes, which was followed by a silver sports car, described as having a long bonnet.

It is unclear whether this second car was involved in the incident, but police are still keen to trace the driver and any passengers in case they can help with the inquiry.

The offenders are described as white and aged 20-30. The driver of the Mercedes had light brown hair and was of a muscular build.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, and have asked anyone with information to call DC Dorey at North Kent Police Station on 01474 366423, or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Both victims were taken to Darent Valley Hospital, where one remains in a stable condition. The other was released with minor injuries.
