Man, 91, kicked in head in Northfleet

A 91-year-old man has reportedly been kicked in the head by a group of children during a sickening attack in Northfleet.

The man's daughter, Ann Holmes, posted a heartbreaking message on Facebook revealing her dad had been attacked and "kicked in the head while on the ground".

The post prompted an outpouring of shock, disgust, anger and sympathy from hundreds of people on the Gravesend & Dartford District News Facebook page.

One person felt so strongly about what happened she set up a fundraising page to "show him that we call care".

The pensioner, named locally as Mr Parker, was reportedly close to the Arriva bus station, off London Road, when he was set upon on Tuesday evening.

Ms Holmes' post reads: "This is a picture of my 91-year-old Dad who was attacked by kids in Northfleet yesterday (kicked in the head while on the ground). Thankfully he is up and about today, very shaken and very sore."

She also asked for helping tracking down a person who helped her father and it is believed she has now spoken to the man.

It is not clear why the youths attacked the pensioner.

Jayne Marsh was so moved by Ms Holmes' story she started a JustGiving page to raise money for the victim.

"Please could you send even £1 so that we can show him that we all care."

More than 350 comments on Facebook prove Ms Marsh is not the only one who feels that way.
