Liam Daish not expecting much transfer activity at Ebbsfleet United

Transfer business is already rife across Blue Square Bet Premier but Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish expects the January window to pass relatively quietly at Stonebridge Road.

New arrivals are unlikely unless existing squad members leave, although the Fleet boss insists that is also a long shot.

With the club hoping to raise £50,000 by the end of the season, player sales during January offer one fund-raising solution.

However, Fleet have received no offers so far and Daish (pictured) believes cashing in any of his young talents could be counter-productive.

He said: "I don’t think there will be much coming in unless players are going out. We’ll wait and see but I can’t see a lot happening.

"You can create a false economy if you cut your product. You’ve got to make sure you’ve still got a product out there to sell. What do people come for? They don’t come to buy a burger or a pint, they come here to watch a decent side and a decent football match.

"People want to see a competitive side, a side holding their own. If there isn’t that, you can get on a little bit of a slippery slope."
