A violent thug who stabbed a man in an unprovoked attack in Gravesend has been jailed for two years.

Marcus Nguguna knifed his 25-year-old victim once in the chest, narrowly missing the lung, and once in the top of his arm.

The 19-year-old, of Edwin Street, Gravesend, ran off following the attack at 1pm on June 19 last year. The weapon was never recovered.

His victim drove a short distance in his white van and called out for assistance from passers by and traders, before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

Nguguna was later identified by CCTV fleeing into a nearby block of flats and was arrested at about 1.30am the next day.

He was taken initially to Medway Police Station, and in October 2009 was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was found guilty of unlawful wounding in August and sentenced to jail at Maidstone Crown Court on October 25.
