Icy conditions freeze train services

Commuters in north Kent have been delayed for several hours after "poor weather conditions" brought a halt to train services.

Operator Southeastern closed all services from the Kent coast into London, including lines from Gravesham and Dartford, in the early hours of this morning due to "icy conditions".

All lines from north Kent were up and running again from 9am, but with a limited service and further delays.

A Southeastern spokesman said: "It was really icy and the temperature dropped overnight, leaving ice on the conductor rail. It's very frustrating for passngers, but services are now running again."

The disruption comes just weeks after heavy snow brought Southeastern services in Kent to a near standstill.
