In 90 minutes more than 400 riders arrived, were registered and then sent out on 15, 30 and 45 mile routes.

Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Gurdip Ram Bungar, saw them away with a blast on an air horn.

The Gravesham with Ebbsfleet Rotary event team organised the event, and there were refreshment checkpoints and support vehicles available.

"It was a great sight," said President, Brian Portway. "They arrived from all over the South East, collected their route maps and then rode out through the villages and back to us throughout the day.

“It was a terrific display of wheelpower helping people."

The cycle was in support of Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Services who have now established a network of dementia co-ordinators for surgeries across the area.

Other Rotary-supported charities will also benefit from the money raised.

On Your Bike has been held for 35 years and has contributed more than £600,000 to both local and Rotary charities.
