Huge burst water pipe blocks Dale Road in Southfleet, Gravesend

A burst water pipe has partially blocked a road.

A video shows water gushing out onto Dale Road, Southfleet this morning.

The street was flooded and a large hole has opened in the ground.

One resident told KentOnline a similar incident happened at the bottom of the road just a few weeks ago.

According to Kent County Council, Dale Road was shut at Hayden Cross as recently as April 14 to enable water pipe repairs to be carried out by Thames Water.

A Thames Water spokesman said: "We received reports of a leak on Dale Road in Southfleet, earlier this morning.

"Due to the location of the leak, we are working with the local council to implement the necessary traffic management protocols so we can carry out the repair safely.

“We're working as quickly as possible to get this sorted and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes to local residents.”
