A couple of neighbours allegedly became annoyed at the noise the group were making and it is claimed assaulted one of the teenagers.

Ambulance and the fire service went to scene and were seen by residents driving up and down the street after the alleged attack.

The mum, who wished to remain anonymous, said the incident happened outside her property.

“I was away and my son had some friends over," she said.

"He's 19 and they got drunk and loud and lairy as kids do sometimes.

"Something was thrown in my son's friend's face.

"It could have had a very, very bad outcome for him. I'm still not sure how much damage has been done to his eye.

"I don’t think so, I think that’s a step too far."

One woman posting on Facebook said she heard a young girl scream, asking for help after her boyfriend had been attacked.

Another resident, who lives in the street, said: "I didn’t hear or see much, the noise woke us up and we saw the flashing lights and lots of emergency services for about an hour or so, before they all left."

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment to a facial injury.

Police say a 28-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were arrested and have been released pending further inquiries.
