Morrisons spread joy to Gravesend care home residents with shoppers donating gifts to Dene Holm

A supermarket has spread some Christmas cheer to people living in a nearby care home.

Residents and staff at Dene Holm care home in Northfleet received gifts courtesy of a giving tree set up by Morrisons in Coldharbour Road, Gravesend.

The store set up the tree in store a few weeks ago and invited shoppers to buy Christmas presents for residents of the care home, provided with just a name and age to guide their choice.

Morrisons community champion, Chris Bradford, who regularly drops off flowers to the residents for their activities, visited last week armed with several large bags of gifts for the residents and boxes of biscuits for staff.

Lea-Ann Shaw, activity coordinator for Dene Holm Road care home said: "We were absolutely overwhelmed when Chris arrived with so many bags of gifts for our residents, the number of shoppers who must have got involved was outstanding and we were certainly not expecting so many.

"The kindness and generosity of Chris and his team has meant a lot to us this year, at a time when we are all working very hard to keep our residents safe and happy, it's lovely to know they are thinking of us."
