Relegated Ebbsfleet finished their league season with a 2-0 defeat to Gateshead at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

Liam Daish’s (pictured) side, who failed to win any of their last 10 games in Blue Square Bet Premier, eventually finished 15 points adrift of safety.

Fleet keeper Lucas Menz saved from James Marwood but he was beaten by a Liam Hatch header, from a Josh Gillies corner, on 49 minutes.

The visitors looked to hit back and Liam Enver-Marum set up Nathan Elder, whose effort was straight at Heed keeper Adam Bartlett.

Gillies and Marwood went close to extending Heed’s advantage but they did score a second goal in stoppage-time when Liam Henderson converted Marwood’s pass.

Ebbsfleet visit Margate in the Kent Senior Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
