Funeral for "best son and brother"

Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend the funeral of teenager Robert Cooter on Thursday.

The 17-year-old, who was described by his family as "the best son and brother anyone could have wished for" tragically died in a car crash on Mother's Day, March 22.

Robert, of Sun Lane, Gravesend, had cooked a family meal before he drove off to visit a friend in Meopham.

But as he made his way home along Wrotham Road the silver Vaxhall Corsa he was driving left the road, hit a telegraph pole and overturned.

Emergency services rushed to the North West Kent College pupil's aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family, college friends and fellow petanque players will be saying a final farewell to Rob at Christ Church, Old Road East, Gravesend, from 11am on Thursday.

The funeral service will be followed by a burial at Gravesend Cemetery for those who wish to attend.

His parents Mark and Corinne Cooter have requested that all flowers or donations (for the special baby care unit at Darent Valley Hospital) be made to T S Horlock & Son Ltd, 10 The Hill, Northfleet, Gravesend, DA11 9EU, 01474 352159.
