PLANS for a multi-million pound outdoor activity park in Gravesham have been given a boost.

Kent County Council has announced its decision to back the A2 Outdoor Activity Park scheme, which is being proposed for land which is being freed up by the realignment on the A2.

The council has also pledged to provide £250,000 towards the development stage, which will include undertaking the wider public consultation and a detailed design and bid development.

The venue would provide dedicated sports facilities to local, national and international running, cycling and dualthlon events, featuring a variety of cycling tracks, BMX track and running circuit, as well as other sports facilities.

Laurence Tricker, green grid programme manager for the Kent Thameside Delivery Board, said, “We are thrilled that we have been able to secure the right backing from KCC to bring these plans to fruition. Local people already think this is an exciting and innovative regeneration proposal for Kent Thameside and we are pleased that these plans are moving ever closer to delivery.”
